AI and the Impact on SaaS

By Gray King, CEO Sizeo - from LinkedIn

So how is AI going to play out in SaaS over the next few years?

Pete Flint The Verticalization of Everything lays out a strong case for vertical, AI-driven SaaS winning over horizontal solutions. Worth following NFX for their point of view on AI software.

A couple of favorite points that are relevant from my Sizeo (on Team Vertical) point of view and for retail transformation and innovation more broadly.

“AI will ‘unlock’ historically stagnant vertical” = I think it is true, AI is coming to transform retail, whether you are ready or not.

“Management teams are under pressure to show that they have an AI strategy … That puts pressure on companies to be more open-minded about talking to vendors and moving quickly.” I continue to be hopeful that this will be more true as people see others having real wins with AI solutions.

“Increasing interoperability and ease of integration between enterprise systems.”   We have been super focused on this and it is paying dividends, as the vertical solution you have to be willing to do the work on this one if you want in.

Importance of really good UX - I’ve been feeling this one and probably need to be more focused on it and go faster. I think in the long run this is a big part of what allows you to expand in the vertical.

No doubt that we will continue to lean into our deep industry experience and AI analytical expertise. No one knows size and pack optimization better than our team.

Which team are you on in the AI SaaS debate - Vertical or Horizontal?
