As we close the books on 2024 (end of Jan. retail fiscal year for me thanks) and look ahead to 2025, NRF Big Show offered a snapshot of where we’ve been and where we’re going.


December 2024 marked the end for some long-struggling retailers, and there may be a few more zombies waiting to go. But for those who’ve made it through, there is a renewed sense of optimism based on strong results. 


Here are three things that NRF clarified for me. 

- The resurgence of physical stores. From niche brands to retail giants, everyone is talking about adding stores. Physical retail is alive, well, and growing.

- Listen to the customer. Successful retailers are the ones listening to their customers and delivering on their expectations. Always has been true, and always will be true.

- ROI is the top priority - even for AI. Whether you’re pitching new initiatives inside your organization or selling solutions from the outside, the message is clear. Make sure it drives revenue, increases margins, or improves the customer experience. 


Being part of the National Retail Federation’s Innovators Showcase was a privilege, and I’m energized by the conversations and connections with so many people passionate about our industry.
